Catania Boss Sinisa Mihajlovic Unconcerned By Lazio Fans’ Reception |
|
The Serbian just hopes he won’t be treated with
indifference by the Aquile faithful…

Catania boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has urged the
supporters of his former side Lazio to take a clear
stance this afternoon when the Elefanti pay a visit
to the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A.
The 40-year-old spent six seasons with the
Biancocelesti as a player and, even though he will
sit out a dug-out ban, he has called for the Laziali
population to acknowledge his presence, one way or
another.
“It doesn’t matter whether I receive boos or
applause,” he said during yesterday’s pre-match
press conference.
“The applause is pleasing, but whistles are equally
fine. I’d rather hear them than be received with
indifference.”
Lazio are enduring a disastrous season after lifting
the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup last year
and both sides will fight for their lives this
afternoon in what is effectively a relegation clash.
“You all know that I have plenty of friends at
Lazio, I root for them and my sons play in their
youth set-up,” mused Mihajlovic.
“But Catania need to get points. We need to beat the
drop and that’s why we must look to claim the
spoils.”

Catania Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic Confident As He Seeks Safety Points
Against Parma |
|
The coach is eager for points...
By Salvatore Landolina
Jan 22, 2010 3:46:00 PM
Catania coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is fully aware of
the perils his side face down in the relegation
zone, but is confident of using Sunday's home clash
against Parma as a springboard to start climbing up
the table.
The Etnei are four points off the safety mark, but
the former defender appreciates the qualities he has
at his disposal as points loom over the horizon.
"I hope the fans come to help us, in any case we
will win and I am convinced we will," Mihajlovic
told the press with an air of confidence.
The coach hopes his side can build the starting
blocks of their Serie A survival bid as he pledges
effort and a top-flight future. Mihajlovic also
pointed out the pitfalls his side face against
Parma.
"I know that we are still behind in the league, but
we won't be by the end of the season," he added.
"Parma? They have many injury problems and they have
gone through a difficult period. Nevertheless, they
can still give you trouble because they are a strong
side."

I Don’t Understand Why The Referee Sent Me Off – Catania Coach Sinisa
Mihajlovic |
|
The Etnei tactician
denied having spoken out against the match official…
Jan 10, 2010 6:30:00 PM
After watching his struggling Catania side suffer a
2-0 defeat at the hands of Genoa this afternoon,
coach Sinisa Mihajlovic spoke out against the
referee for his decision to show him a red card five
minutes from time.
“It is true I got angry over a foul that wasn’t
given but I didn’t insult anyone, so I am clueless
as to why I was sent off,” he declared to SkySport.
“I think I was right to get angry as there was
clearly a foul on [Gianvinto] Plasmati. On the bench
you are allowed to get upset and considering I
didn’t say anything untoward there is reason why I
had to go.”
“We are not going to look for excuses but it has to
be said that when the sides were 11 against 11, we
matched Genoa all over the field.
“It is clear that once you are a man down everything
becomes much harder and therefore we suffered a
little at the speed of the Grifoni’s game.
“We have another encounter on Wednesday against
Genoa in the Coppa Italia and we will do our best to
overcome them.”
